CAMPION are up to third in the Northern Counties East League Premier Division, beating Eccleshill United 3-1 in a derby at Scotchman Road last night.

After Marcus Day hit the post with a cross-cum-shot for Campion, team-mate Sam Bradley opened the scoring against his former club.

Luke Rhodes whistled an effort just past the post, before Day, Stevie Crawford and Patrick Sykes were denied by a wonderful triple save from Ed Wilczynski.

But the Red and Blacks soon doubled their lead, as Sykes netted on his 100th appearance for the club.

Eccleshill refused to give up though and had the better of the game towards the end of the first half.

They halved the deficit just before the break, then survived a scare as Nicky Boshell’s goal for Campion was ruled out for offside.

The score remained 2-1 in Campion’s favour until Day clinched victory with 15 minutes to go.

The derby win keeps up Campion’s excellent start in their first season since promotion.

Albion Sports are another Bradford side who are flying. They are unbeaten, up to fourth and have several games in hand on the teams above.

But they had to do it the hard way at Garforth Town last night, after falling behind early on to their former player, Tabish Hussain.

A Jamie Barkway own goal levelled the scores late on, before Albion stole victory with injury-time goals from Ellis Wade and Robbie Fox.

Silsden stay top of the tree though, after thrashing Goole 5-0 on Tuesday night.

Casey Stewart netted twice, with Jake Maltby, Luke Brooksbank and T’Nique Fishley also on the scoresheet.

In the Northern Premier League East Division, Brighouse Town were beaten 2-0 at home to Dunston on Monday night.

Guiseley looked certain to get their first win under interim boss Liam Tongue in the NPL Premier Division, as Reece Kendall put them 1-0 up at Morpeth Town late on, before the hosts had a man sent off.

But Morpeth popped up with a last-minute equaliser to spoil the party.
