ECCLESHILL United ended an eight-game winless run in impressive fashion last night.

They hosted Hemsworth Miners Welfare, who are eighth in the Northern Counties East League Premier Division, and coming off the back of a 4-0 victory at Goole on Saturday.

But they were brought back down to earth by the Eagles, who beat them 3-0 thanks to a fine Matthew Sykes hat-trick.

Sykes opened the scoring for Eccleshill just before the half-hour mark, firing the ball home after a blocked effort fell into his path.

He doubled the home side's advantage five minutes before half-time, beating the keeper with a fine strike from the edge of the box.

And he put the game beyond doubt seconds after the restart with his third of the game.

It was some way to celebrate for Eccleshill, whose survival was only mathematically guaranteed at the weekend.

Silsden drew 1-1 at the weekend at Maltby Main at the weekend, having done the same less than 48 hours before against Albion Sports.

And a hat-trick of 1-1 draws was completed last night, in their encounter at home to Barton Town.

Barton opened the scoring through Harrison Coley early on, but Ellis Hudson's penalty ensured a point for the Cobbydalers.

Campion were crowned NCEL Division One champions on Saturday and they celebrated with a madcap 5-2 win at Nostell Miners Welfare last night.

A bad challenge from Reggie Waud saw Nostell reduced to 10 men early on, but with Campion blowing a couple of good chances, the score was still 0-0 at the break.

Harvey Booth's fine opener seemed to wake up the hosts, who went on to score three times in 15 minutes through Aidan Day, Ashley Flynn and Marcus Day.

Tawheed Ahmed pulled a goal back for Nostell, but the home side were then reduced to nine men when Carl Robinson was dismissed for an off-the-ball altercation with Kyle Trennery.

Jack McGahan was sin-binned for his part in the incident, leaving Nostell down to eight men, but then Trennery was forced off injured, meaning striker Aidan Kirby had to go in goal.

But there were no dramas for him, as late goals from Flynn and Sam Bradley secured victory for Campion.

In the North West Counties Football League First Division North, Steeton came from behind to beat high-flying Euxton Villa 2-1.

The prolific Andy Briggs and teenage Bradford (Park Avenue) loanee Josh Coe scored the Chevrons’ goals, as they kept their slim play-off hopes alive.

Brighouse Town grabbed a crucial Northern Premier League East Division win at relegation play-off rivals Shildon.

After the hosts took an early lead, the away side hit back to win 2-1, courtesy of goals from Joshua Dacre and Sam Reed.

Liversedge’s relegation battle in the Northern Premier League Premier Division is set to go to the wire.

But they at least picked up a crucial point from a 1-1 home draw with Lancaster City, as they were indebted to a last-gasp Nathan Cartman equaliser.

Sedge will be at home again on Friday, April 28, having just confirmed that they will be hosting the West Riding County Cup final clash between themselves and Campion on that date.

Finally, an inspired Farsley Celtic are now four points clear of the National League North relegation zone, after earning a stunning 2-1 home win over fourth-placed Brackley Town courtesy of goals from Theo Williams and Frank Mulhern.

Brackley had a player sent off for two bookable offences in second-half stoppage time, to complete a miserable night for them.
