ECCLESHILL United and Silsden produced a gripping Bradford District derby on Saturday, with both sides sharing the spoils after a 2-2 draw.

Hosts Eccleshill have had a tough season in the Northern Counties East League Premier Division, and sit down in 16th, less than 12 months after coming within a penalty shootout of promotion.

But one more win will guarantee them survival, and they showed enough fighting spirit in their comeback draw against the Cobbydalers to suggest they will get over the line sooner rather than later.

It was a bad start for the Eagles at the weekend, as mid-table Silsden roared out of the blocks.

After Jack Normanton lobbed a good chance over the bar and Ellis Hudson fizzed an effort just wide, Silsden eventually took the lead on 19 minutes.

A superb ball through from Kyle Hancock put Luke Brooksbank away, and he made no mistake with the finish.

Eccleshill finally tested Silsden stopper Hagie Damba with a fierce low strike, but the visitors soon responded.

Hudson somehow put the ball wide after rounding the goalkeeper, before Brooksbank doubled his side's lead.

He was on hand to prod the ball home after a scramble in the box, with Eccleshill facing a mountain to climb to get back into the contest.

But after the home side had crashed a decent chance over the bar, they halved the deficit.

Damba saved from a free-kick, but the loose ball fell to Devonte Morton, who tucked the ball into the net.

And Eccleshill levelled just two minutes into the second half, Luke Sidaway producing a smart, low finish to make the score 2-2.

The Eagles were on top now, and Damba made a superb save on the hour mark to stop his side falling behind, with Arley Barnes scrambling the loose ball clear under severe pressure.

Morton headed wide midway through the second half, before Normanton was denied at the other end soon after.

Eccleshill had by far the best chance to win the game late on, but Morton somehow smashed the ball over the crossbar from inside the six-yard box.

There was another enthralling encounter at Barton Town, as mid-table Thackley threw away a 3-1 lead with 30 minutes to go to lose 4-3.

Barton took an early lead through Jonathan Oglesby, but goals from Joe Mitchell and Tom Greaves put the dominant Dennyboys in front after half-an-hour.

And when Aidan Chippendale fired the visitors in front five minutes into the second half, Thackley looked comfortable.

But Barton are a top half side for a reason, and Tom Waudby's double saw them level the scores with 15 minutes to go.

Nathan Hotte headed home Barton's winner with 10 minutes to go, with player-manager Greaves sent to the sin-bin late on to compound Thackley's misery.

Albion Sports are just two points behind Thackley now, with three games in hand on them, after Hass Gorji's double earned the Bradford side a 2-1 home win over Frickley Athletic.

NCEL Division One title favourites Campion are now eight points clear at the summit after a 4-1 win at Shirebrook Town on Saturday.

Nicky Boshell, from the penalty spot, and Patrick Sykes put them 2-0 up before the break, but a late Jake Squires penalty threatened to make things interesting.

But injury-time goals from Aidan Kirby and Sykes settled the contest in the Bradford side's favour.

Steeton are still in the North West Counties Football League First Division North promotion hunt, six point off the play-offs with five games to go.

They edged a topsy-turvy encounter at lowly Runcorn Town 3-2, thanks to an Arale Mohamed strike and an Andy Briggs double.

Brighouse Town gave their hopes of avoiding the Northern Premier League East Division relegation play-offs a real boost with a magnificent 2-1 win at high-flying Stockton Town.

Attacking duo Mohammad Qasim and Jack Boyle scored Brig's goals before the break.

Liversedge are eight points off safety in the NPL Premier Division, but have four games in hand on the team immediately above the drop zone, Stalybridge Celtic.

Sedge did their survival chances no harm on Saturday, Ben Atkinson's last-gasp penalty securing them a thrilling 3-3 home draw with Stafford Rangers.

Nicholas Walker had already levelled twice for the hosts either side of the break, before Atkinson's late intervention.

Stafford then had a man sent off for a second yellow card following Atkinson's spot-kick.

Guiseley's play-off hopes look to be slipping away after a 2-1 defeat at mid-table Warrington Rylands in the same division.

Benjamin Smiles-Braithwaite cancelled out Rylands' opener with seven minutes to go, but the hosts scored an injury-time winner.

Finally, Farsley Celtic remain three points from safety in National League North after losing 2-0 at mid-table Buxton.
