ALBION Sports are on a fine run in the the Northern Counties East League Premier Division, with last night's excellent 1-0 home win over Penistone Church, which came despite a powercut, making it 13 points from the last 18 available.

But frustratingly, they will not get chance to build on that this weekend, after their Bradford District derby at home to Silsden on Saturday had to be postponed due to pitch unavailability.

Albion, while a historically Bradford team, play their football at The Citadel, Farsley Celtic's ground.

But landlords Farsley have first use of the ground, and for once, the two sides have been unable to avoid a clash.

With Farsley scheduled to play a crucial home game in their National League North relegation battle against rock-bottom AFC Telford United, Albion obviously cannot play Silsden there at the same time.

Albion manager Rizwan Mohammed told the T&A: "We did try BPA (Horsfall) and other venues.

"We even looked at reversing the fixture to play the game at Silsden.

"But the pitches we looked into using were not available and already had games on."

It means Albion have the weekend off, but they are back in action at The Citadel soon, hosting sixth-placed Hallam in the league next Wednesday evening.

They probably could do with a week off after a dramatic game against Penistone last night.

Albion took the lead just a minute before half-time thanks to Lewis Waddington, his first goal for the club since moving from Thackley last month.

A couple of injuries in the second half, including one to captain Aran Basi that forced him off, threatened to derail the home side's momentum.

And when a powercut occurred in the area just before 9:30pm, the players had to come off for nearly 15 minutes.

But when the game finally resumed, Albion saw out the final stages to claim a fine three points against their fourth-placed visitors.

Albion stay down in 15th despite the victory, but with games in hand on all the teams above them, they will surely be targeting a top-half finish.
