ECCLESHILL United's fantastic FA Vase run continued on Saturday, as they reached the last-16 with a nerve-racking home win on penalties over AFC Liverpool.

And teenage goalkeeper Isaac Khan was the shootout hero, saving Findlay Heath and Tom Croughan's spot-kicks, before seeing Luke Stephens fire his over the bar.

That left player-manager Ryan Toulson taking the decisive penalty, and he scored to ensure Eccleshill won the shootout 5-4.

What made the win all the more remarkable was that Khan was only in goal after the Eagles' No.1 Ed Wilczynski was sent off for handling the ball outside the area after 33 minutes.

But Eccleshill battled hard for nearly an hour with 10 men, and their determination paid off in the end, as they booked a home tie against Atherstone Town in the last-16.

AFC Liverpool started brightly, and forced Wilczynski into early saves from Eliot Hughes and Kyle Scorah.

Hughes was in the thick of the action for the red card too, as he beat the Eccleshill stopper to a one-on-one.

Wilczynski was forced to handle the ball illegally to prevent the goal and was therefore dismissed.

Oliver Sanderson-Rigby fired the resulting free-kick just over the bar, before Fernando Moke had Eccleshill's first chance, but Jack McGovern saved his long-range effort nicely.

The Eagles came agonisingly close to opening the scoring right on half-time after a long throw caused chaos in the visiting box.

But McGovern was on hand to scramble the ball off the line, before a shot was somehow slammed wide in the resulting melee.

Hughes fired wide for AFC Liverpool early in the second half, while Sanderson-Rigby rattled an effort off the crossbar after 64 minutes.

Croughan then had a penalty shout turned down, before Jay Howell crashed a shot just over following a corner for the visitors.

Khan made a super save to deny Croughan in the dying moments, meaning the game went to penalties.

Eccleshill missed their third penalty, and when AFC Liverpool scored their first four, they looked a good bet to go through.

But when Heath and Croughan had their efforts saved, Eccleshill had a penalty to go through.

They fired that over the crossbar, but then Stephens did the same, allowing Toulson to send his side through.

In the Northern Counties East League Premier Division, Thackley surely put any relegation fears to bed, as they dismantled second-bottom Bottesford Town 7-2 at Dennyfield.

Frankie Sinfield and Aidan Chippendale both hit hat-tricks for the hosts, while Ben Grech-Brooksbank also got his name on the scoresheet.

Albion Sports, without a game on Saturday, were happy with that result too, as it kept them seven points clear of the danger zone.

Silsden's promotion dreams took a hit as they were thrashed 5-0 at runaway leaders North Ferriby, Kyle Hancock's second yellow card late on compounding their misery.

But in NCEL Division One, Campion have one hand on the title, the Bradford side moving 12 points clear at the summit after thumping Selby Town 5-0.

Aidan Kirby's hat-trick for the hosts was bookended by goals from Marcus Day and Nicky Boshell, with Selby having a man sent off late on when they were already 4-0 behind, and missing a penalty just before that.

In the North West Counties Football League First Division North, play-off chasing Steeton secured a 1-1 draw at home to rivals Euxton Villa, with Andy Briggs scoring a late equaliser for the Chevrons.

The result was all the more impressive given Steeton had Luke Baldwin sent off in the first half for catching his man with a late tackle.

In the Northern Premier League East Division, mid-table Brighouse Town drew 1-1 at Lincoln United, Mohammad Qasim opening the scoring for the visitors.

Guiseley saw Kareem Hassan-Smith sent off late in the first half on Saturday, and that cost them dearly, as they lost 3-2 to Hyde United in the NPL Premier Division, despite goals from Callum Chippendale and Adam Haw.

That result was a rare blip for Guiseley, whose relegation fears are well in the past.

The same cannot be said for Liversedge, who are 10 points off safety in the division after losing 1-0 to Warrington Rylands on Saturday.

Finally, Farsley Celtic are three points off safety in National League North after they were thumped 5-2 at Curzon Ashton.

Dave Syers and Frank Mulhern, the latter with a penalty, netted for the visitors.
