CAMPION have made it into the final of the Yorkshire Trophy.

They beat Thackley 3-1 on Friday night, to finish Group Stage B with a perfect record of three wins from three, putting them into Saturday's final, with their opponents yet to be confirmed.

The visiting Dennyboys took the lead early on through Tom Greaves, but Campion soon equalised from a corner.

They went in front after a breakaway not long after, and added a third with a similar flowing move just after the interval.

The other game in that group between Albion Sports and Yorkshire Amateur was called off, though Campion's win meant that would have been a dead rubber anyway.

Brighouse Town are in Group A of the Yorkshire Trophy, but they were not involved in the competition at the weekend, instead drawing a friendly 1-1 against Eccleshill United.

There was the "train station derby" between Silsden and Steeton, with the former particularly impressive in the second half on their way to a 4-1 win.

Liversedge thumped Golcar United 6-1, Guiseley lost 3-1 to Everton's Under-23s, while Farsley Celtic lost 3-0 against Tonbridge Angels.

Several friendlies for our sides that were pencilled in for tomorrow have either been cancelled or moved to Wednesday evening, owing to the current heatwave.
