ALBION Sports pulled off victory in an extraordinary West Riding County Cup clash at home to Eccleshill United last night.

The two Bradford sides played out a 5-5 draw, before Eagles stars Andy Cooper and Ellis Wade missed in the subsequent shoot-out to hand Albion the win.

Zack Sangster put the visitors in front after only two minutes, pouncing on an error from Albion stopper George Clarke.

But the home side turned things around quickly. Danny Facey equalised on 13 minutes, before Eccleshill keeper Tom Kirkland spilled Jaydan Sandhu’s effort into his own net.

Luke Aldrich levelled when he headed home Wade’s cross, and a Cooper spot-kick had Eccleshill back ahead after 33 minutes.

A minute later it was 4-2, when Aldrich latched on to Aiden Day’s ball through and chipped his effort home beyond Clarke.

Facey then made it 4-3, but Aldrich converted Wade’s pass on the stroke of half-time to complete his hat-trick.

It was a much quieter second half, but with eight minutes left, Finn Donovan struck one into the bottom corner to halve the deficit.

And Albion completed the comeback with two minutes to go, as Spencer Gordon scored a dramatic equaliser.

While Jonny Irving and Day converted their efforts in the shootout, the misses of Cooper and Wade proved fatal, as Albion took four perfect penalties to seal their spot in the second round.

They will host County Cup holders Ossett United in that clash.

Liversedge are also into the second round of the County Cup, after they won 4-1 at Armthorpe Welfare, thanks to goals from Joe Walton (x2), Gavin Allott and Oliver Fearon.

They entertain Barnoldswick Town in the next round.
