THACKLEY came out on top in their battle with Bradford District rivals Silsden in midweek, emerging as comfortable 3-0 winners away from home.

Both team were attempting to bounce back from disappointing FA Cup defeats at the weekend, and it was Pat McGuire's side who found the perfect tonic in this Northern Counties East League Premier Division clash.

The Dennyboys were on top in the opening exchanges and they made Silsden pay after 20 minutes.

Lawrence Hunter's cross was spilled by goalkeeper Sam Lee, and Chris Lever was on hand to hammer home the loose ball.

Khurram Shazad almost equalised but fired his shot just wide, before Lewis Waddington blew a great one-on-one chance to double Thackley's lead, firing over the bar.

Lever's flick on set up Owen Murphy late in the first half, and his effort came cannoning back off the crossbar.

Just moments later, the Dennyboys did go 2-0 up. Adam Terrelonge-Jones went on a good run down the right and his cross was turned home by Waddington.

Murphy made it three just after the break, after breaking clear from the halfway line.

Joe Jagger and Craig Billington both missed great chances to give Silsden a foothold in the game soon after, but Thackley were unlucky not to make it four when Lee denied Murphy with a fine save.

The defeat leaves Silsden bottom and Thackley top of the early-season table.

Eccleshill got their second league draw of the season, after a 0-0 stalemate at AFC Mansfield.

They went closest in the first half, but Sam Awty's early effort was disallowed for offside.

Ellis Wade rattled the crossbar for the Eagles with a free-kick just after the break, but Brad Emmerson had to be at his best to deny a superb long-range effort from the hosts with 15 minutes to go.

Albion Sports more than held their own for 85 minutes at Winterton Rangers, but went behind to a stunning 30-yard strike from Luke Anderson.

Josh Walker wrapped the game up from the spot for Winterton in injury-time.
