ILKLEY Town won 3-2 at Salts in the West Riding County Challenge Cup Second Round despite a brave fightback from the hosts.

Visitors Ilkley started brightly and broke the deadlock when Joe Garside drilled a free-kick into the bottom-right corner from the edge of the box.

They were dominating and doubled their lead when Tom Fleming dribbled his way past the Salts defence before placing the ball past Matthew Keen into the back of the net.

But Salts halved the deficit on the stroke of half time and equalised after the break when their number eight, Josh Eastwood, sprinted past the visiting defence before blasting the ball into the net.

Ilkley brought on James Turland and Ben Greenhow and began to keep possession more easily. They subsequently saw Tom Smith restore their lead following good build up play from the substitutes.

Tom Fleming then hit the post for the away side but Salts came close to equalising at the last.

Ilkley keeper Adam Montague-Miller denied them though, showing good reflexes to make a crucial, match-winning save.

Elsewhere, Toller progressed after thumping Sowerby United 6-1, while Campion Reserves did even better, recording an incredible 13-0 win at Morley Town.

Chris Hellewell and Zak Khan led the way with four goals each, with Ross Kelly (2), Liam Walton, Kyle Bingham and Calvin Clavecillas also on target.

Route One Rovers managed a 1-1 draw at Kirk Deighton Rangers but subsequently went down 4-3 in the shootout.

Other Bradford teams had much heavier second round defeats.

Denholme United suffered an 11-0 loss at the hands of Horbury Town, Wyke Wanderers were thrashed 6-0 by Farsley Celtic Juniors, Bingley Town went down 3-0 at Headingley and poor Hanging Heaton were crushed 8-0 at Springhead.

It was a mixed bag elsewhere in the district. Pool snuck past Knaresborough Town Reserves with a 3-2 victory, while Oxenhope Recreation won a thriller 6-3 at Rolls.

Otley Town also won, 3-1 at Rimington. But Crosshills were hammered 9-0 by Keighley and Craven rivals Silsden Whitestar, while Steeton Reserves went down 6-3 at Shelf United.

FC Sporting Keighley lost 4-2 at home to Gildersome Spurs Old Boys and Grassington United lost 5-3 at Stanley United. Finally, Field lost 5-1 at Rawdon Old Boys.

In the second round, Idle went down to a heavy 6-2 defeat at Honley and Salts 3rd Craven lost 4-1 at home to Horsforth St Margarets' B.

But their 4th team had more success, winning 5-3 at Sherburn White Rose Reserves. Field Reserves joined them in the third round draw, winning 3-2 on penalties after a 0-0 draw at Beeston St Anthony YAL.

Ilkley Town Reserves lost an incredible match 7-4 at Swillington Saints Welfare, while Otley Town A lost 4-0 at home to Hunslet Club Reserves.
