LIVERSEDGE progressed to the last four in the Toolstation Northern Counties East League League Cup after coming back twice at Rainworth Miners' Welfare in last night’s quarter-final, which went to extra-time.
Sedge were a goal down after just seven minutes when the Wrens’ Max Pemberton broke the deadlock, but they battled back and Steve Wales hit a 72nd-minute equaliser, taking the tie into the additional period.
Pemberton put the home side back in front just before the end of the first extra period, but Jonathan Rimmington’s men, who have been playing three or four times a week throughout April, are nothing other than resilient and refused to roll over.
Joe Walton netted in both the 109th and 114th minute to give Sedge the win in what was a dramatic finale.
