Evo-Stik League Premier Division: Barwell 3 Farsley Celtic 4

NATHAN Turner’s winner deep into stoppage time in a seven-goal thriller gave Farsley Celtic back-to-back victories in the run-in and put their fate back in their own hands.

Adam Lakeland’s men held their nerve at Barwell’s Kirby Road Sports ground and now know that if they win their last two games of the regular season they will be involved in the Evo-Stik League Premier Division play-offs.

The Celts travel to Witton Albion on Tuesday and host Marine next Saturday.

If they win both, they cannot be displaced by sixth-placed Shaw Lane, while seventh-placed Witton Albion are now ten points off the play-offs with only nine to play for after a goalless draw at Rushall Olympic.

Farsley took the lead at Barwell when Nathan Cartman slotted in after the Leicester club’s keeper Liam Castle could only parry Ben Atkinson’s 27th- minute shot.

The hosts were level at the break after Celts keeper Kyle Trenerry also failed to hold onto a shot, allowing Matt Stenson to fire in.

Barwell twice took the lead in the second half of a see-saw game.

The home side were ahead for the first time eight minutes into the second half when Brady Hickey netted the first of his brace.

Adam Clayton headed Farsley’s first equaliser from a corner before Hickey completed his double, also heading in from a corner.

The Celts’ left their charge very late as Paul Walker got their second equaliser with less than two minutes remaining.

Walker slotted in after Cartman took advantage of a slip by home defender Declan Towers and laid the ball back.

The travelling fans were delighted but three minutes into four of added time they were in raptures as Turner had the final say.

In Division One North, already safe Brighouse Town mounted a great comeback to beat promotion-chasing Prescot Cables 2-1.

The Cables remain in fourth place despite the defeat, which looked unlikely when they took an 18th-minute lead.

Joe Herbert put the visitors in front and they held that lead until the 52nd minute.

A superb cross from Danny Naidole found the head of Aaron Martin, and he nodded past the advancing keeper.

Mohammed Ibrahim came off the bench a minute later, replacing Tom Haigh, and latched onto a 62nd-minute through ball before rounding the visiting keeper and slotting in.

Town are still third from bottom with two games to play, the first of which is tomorrow when they host Ramsbottom United.

Rammy are 15th and beat Droylsden 3-1 at the weekend.
