NATHAN Cartman netted a hat-trick as Farsley won the battle of the Celtic’s at Stalybridge in the Evo-Stik Premier Division.

The visitors almost took the lead midway through the first half, but Ben Atkinson’s shot cannoned against the crossbar.

Cartman opened the scoring just after the half hour when his side-foot shot just beat home keeper George Sykes-Kenworthy.

Minutes later Paul Walker found Cartman and the diminutive striker found the net.

Cartman was involved in Farsley’s third goal which was scored by Nathan Turner.

The man of the moment Cartman came close to claiming his treble when his header to Luke Parkin’s 61st minute cross hit the woodwork.

With just ten minutes remaining Cam Murray slipped the offside trap and unselfishly squared the ball to Cartman for a tap in.

The home side denied their visitors a clean sheet as substitute Brice Pouamoun converted Oli Roberts’ ball in from a quickly-taken free-kick.

Farsley Celtic remain in fifth place and they are four points ahead of the clubs outside the play-off places.

Brighouse Town remain second from bottom in Division One North after suffering a disappointing home defeat to Glossop North End.

The Derbyshire club won 2-0 at the Yorkshire Pay Stadium with goals in each half from Lewis Lacy.

He netted his first against the run of play after a 36th minute breakaway by the visitors and he was lively enough to bag his brace after a ball over the top of the Brighouse defence six minutes after the interval.

Town are back in actionon Monday night when they host Mossley.
