YORKSHIRE have snared the wicket of England hopeful Scott Borthwick for just two during an intriguing opening morning against Durham at Emirates Riverside.
Borthwick was run out from mid-off with a direct hit at the non-striker’s end by captain Andrew Gale, who had earlier opted to bowl first.
That left Durham at 56-2 in the 16th over. They have since reached lunch at 72-2 from 22.
Durham openers Mark Stoneman, still there on 45, and Keaton Jennings put on 49 for the first wicket before the latter lost his off-stump to Josh Shaw, having opted against playing a shot.
That was Shaw’s 18th Championship wicket of the season, although his first for Yorkshire on his debut having returned from a loan spell at Gloucestershire.
