YORKSHIRE have endured another tough session as Somerset pile on the runs in their Specsavers County Championship Division One match in Taunton.
Resuming at 342-4 overnight, James Hildreth (151) and Peter Trego (71) took their side to 493-4 and continued the acceleration towards a huge first-innings score.
Aside from a loud caught behind shout from Steve Patterson with Hildreth on 77, and a tough caught and bowled chance by Stamford Bridge’s Will Rhodes, Yorkshire have failed to create any significant chances.
Trego hit three big sixes in the session, two off Bradford’s Adil Rashid and one off Adam Lyth, the last of which was a huge straight drive past Taunton’s towering press box.
Yesterday, Yorkshire skipper Andrew Gale decided to bowl first, a decision that has not paid dividends.
Yorkshire head coach Jason Gillespie last night defended the decision, saying it was a “no-brainer”.
