Hanging Heaton’s brave run in the Kingfisher Cup came to an end as they suffered a 175-run defeat at Nottinghamshire Premier League leaders Cuckney.
And the man who did most to sentence them to defeat has Yorkshire roots – Will Root, brother of Yorkshire batting star Joe.
Root hit an unbeaten 101 off 90 balls with five sixes and five fours as Cuckney made 188-7 in their 45 overs.
David Stiff (2-31) and Rob McFarlane (2-21) were the pick of the Hanging Heaton bowlers.
Their reply was disappointing and they were dismissed for 113 as Will Butler took 5-24.
Ishmail Dawood was Hanging Heaton’s top-scorer with 27.
