Not for the first time this season, the poor weather prior to Saturday had a significant impact on the Dales Council League programme.

However, four Division A fixtures did take place and none was more important than the top-of-the-table clash between leaders Apperley Bridge and joint third-placed visitors Shipley Providence.

The usually free-scoring Bridge were skittled for a meagre 71, with skipper Ricky Taylor (3-2) and Johnny Thompson (2-29) helping to demolish the hosts.

Yet any hopes Prov had of reining in the leaders were soon dispelled as they pressed the self-destruct button with some wayward shots, coupled with a superb piece of bowling by Zafar Jadoon.

He returned 5-14 to shoot out the Saltaire-based side for a mere 58 and send the home side 17 points clear at the top. New Wortley (95-2) claimed third spot outright, and also local bragging rights, after an eight-wicket triumph over neighbours Hyde Park, who were dismissed for 94 as Farhan Saeed took 5-27.

Leeds Sikh (120-4) recorded a comfortable win over visitors Hepworth & Idle (117). Hari Seehra was to the fore with both bat (40no) and ball (4-20) for the home side.

Another low-scoring encounter saw Hawksworh (85) go down by the slender margin of just three runs at home to Saville Stars (88).

In Division B, the clash at Tong village between leaders Tong Manor and second-placed Farnley was ruled out due to the weather.

Apperley Bridge (229) took the opportunity to jump into second place with a resounding win at Adel, who were dismissed for just 71 in reply.

The only other fixture that survived in this division saw Meanwood (99) move up to fourth after a 25-run win at Pudsey Congs, who were dismissed for just 74 in reply.

Just one game took place in Division C, at Cookridge where Farsley were the visitors. It turned out to be a thriller.

Farsley were dismissed for 92, with Rob Foggitt (6-29) and Jake Foggitt (4-27) starring for the home side. In reply, Cookridge were also dismissed for the same score, with Ryan Blackburn (5-34)and Toseef Khan (4-30) ensuring the match finished dead level in a tie.

Only leaders Pudsey St Lawrence (142-2) were in action in Division D and they continued on their merry way with an eight-wicket win at Drighlington/ Whitehall (138-9).
