Holders Pudsey St Lawrence were beaten by league champions Woodlands for the second time in 24 hours as they bowed out of this season’s Priestley Cup.

Woodlands triumphed by five wickets in a low-scoring encounter. They dismissed the home side for just 91 with Stephen Piercey taking 3-14 and Pieter Swanepoel (3-31).

Woodlands plunged to 53-5 before Chris Brice steered them into tomorrow night’s quarter-final draw with an unbeaten 28.

St Lawrence’s neighbours Pudsey Congs may have lost all their league games but they advanced to the third round with a ten-wicket win over Division Two side Hartshead Moor.

Nick Lindley hit a sparkling 105 not out, which contained two sixes and 13 fours, sharing an unbroken opening stand of 183 with Gareth Phillips (64no) which enabled Congs to overhaul the Hartshead Moor score of 179-6 without losing a wicket.

Graham Hilton top-scored for the losers with a battling 82 from 164 balls.

Last season’s beaten finalists East Bierley saw off the challenge of Division Two leaders Gomersal as they eased to a six-wicket win.

Former Bierley skipper Richard Gould made 57 in Gomersal’s 156 as Kez Ahmed (4-26) and Robert Warriner (4-75) proved to be the most successful bowlers for East Bierley. Opener Gavin Hamilton made 45 for East Bierley.

Manningham Mills made the day’s highest score of 267-9 as they crushed Morley by 170 runs. Adam Patel (90) laid the foundations for a furious late assault which saw overseas professional Ali Noman smash seven sixes and a four as he raced to 63 off just 30 balls.

Noman then destroyed the Morley innings by taking 6-14 as they were dismissed for 97.

Lightcliffe were indebted to Chris Taylor for their 20-run win at his former club Farsley. Taylor batted throughout the Lightcliffe innings of 142 to make an undefeated 69.

Bowling Old Lane's trip to Hanging Heaton looked a stiff test for the Division Two side and so it proved. David Stiff smashed an unbeaten 73 as Hanging Heaton overcame a disappointing Old Lane score of 100 to secure a nine-wicket win.

Good bowling from Mushtaq Ahmed (4-23) and Craig Hitchenor (3-22) enabled Division Two side Baildon to dismiss Great Horton for a modest 116. Opener Gharib Razak hit 49 as they cruised to victory by seven wickets.

Skipper James Todd (38) and Damon Gormley (31) ensured that Yeadon were able to chase down Spen Victoria’s total of 154. Opener George Deegan was the one Spen batsman to stand firm with a battling 50.
