It’s as you were at the top of Dales Council League Division A yesterday, with leaders Rodley maintaining their eight-point advantage over Apperley Bridge.

However, last season's champions Leeds Sikh, after a surprise opening-day defeat, are looming large on the horizon after a huge win over Halifax Direct.

Batting first, Sikh reached an impressive 310-8, with Ananda Cabirdassou hitting 146 and Pardasardi Koduru 85. Halifax were then put out for just 109.

Leaders Rodley (82-3) recorded a seven-wicket win following their trip to Saville Stars (77), while second-in-the-table Apperley Bridge (220-4, Mohammed Kurshid 89no, Ghiyas Ahmed 58no, Zafar Jadoon Khan 54) had few problems in a 94-run win at basement team Crompark 126-9.

Shipley Providence (216-6, Leon Risden 59) moved into third place when recording a four-wicket at Hepworth & Idle, who earlier finished at 214-7 (Sean McEvoy 75) in a reduced 40-overs-per-side match.

Hawksworth and New Wortley were involved in a real run fest, visitors Wortley hitting the highest score of the season when smashing 357-7. In reply, Hawksworth reached 217-7.

Imran Aziz, of Hyde Park, returned the best bowling performance of the day with 7-7 as visitors Baildon were dismissed for 88 in reply to the hosts' 99.

In Division B, Tong Manor (178, Steve Phillips 65) continue to lead the way after their latest success over visitors Hepworth & Idle B (100), where for the third successive week, Andrew Keegan (5-27) claimed five wickets or more in an innings.

There were setbacks for two previously unbeaten clubs.

Drighlington-Whitehall (91, Imran Mahmood 5-16) went down by 119 runs at home to Thornbury, where Kalim Afzal hit an unbeaten 119 out of 210-7, and Farnley Hill (142) were also on the end of another century- maker at Meanwood, where Rob Guest hit 102 and Howard Collier 60 out of the hosts' 210-6.

In Division C, the matches at Thornbury and Undercliffe fell foul of the wet conditions.

Meanwhile, front-runners Tong Park Esholt (146-8) kept their 100 per cent record with a slender two- wicket win at home to Saville Stars B (143, Sufain Ahmed 66, Josh Reynolds 5-20).

In Division D, Cookridge C (37/1) made it three wins out of three with a crushing nine-wicket win at home to Baildon C (35, Hassan Abrar 5-4).
