When Steeton set out their stall at the start of the season they claimed that following last season's promotion, "a top-half finish is a realistic target".

But, having played some outstanding cricket - especially during an eight-match winning run in the middle of the season - Gary Boulton's side will now be bitterly disappointed if they don't take the Division A championship for the first time since 1999.

Poor performances and rain-affected results since the end of July have seen their decisive lead at the top cut to just six points and tomorrow they face a tough final home game against Pool.

Victory will virtually clinch the title thanks to fewer defeats but a loss would put Pool within two points and allow Kirkstall - who should beat bottom side Tong Park comfortably - to pull level on 69 points, going into next week's final matches.

Two other sides have an outside chance of grabbing the title - Adel, who entertain Otley, and North Leeds, who are at home to Bilton.

In Division B the two outstanding sides, Collingham and Beckwithshaw, meet in what could turn out to be a title decider but there's also plenty of interest further down the table where five teams still have a mathematical chance of joining Thackley in the drop zone.

Olicanian, currently 11th, travel to Knaresborough - the team four points above them and one of the three teams they have beaten this season.

Horsforth, six points ahead of Olicanian, have a difficult trip to in-form Calverley, while Hall Park entertain Guiseley, and Bardsey are at home to Thackley, both knowing that a draw will probably be enough to make them safe.

Nothing is yet decided in Division C and the top two and bottom two positions may have to wait until the final game before it is clear who will fill them.

In a thrilling twist of fate, the top two sides are at home to two of their promotion rivals. Harden entertain third-placed Illingworth, who are only three points behind them and inflicted one of their two defeats this season.

Colton, who have won 11 of their last 12 completed games, face fifth-placed Ilkley, who are still only five points off the lead.

Fourth-placed New Rover entertain Ben Rhydding, who need at least four points just to have a chance of getting off the bottom of the table.

In what is bound to be a tense affair, Skipton and Menston, the two teams above them, currently locked together on 29 points, meet at Menston.

Those three look most likely to provide the two sides applying for re-election, although defeat for Alwoodley at home to Addingham and Woodhouse at Bolton Villas could still suck them into the mix.
