Sussex declared on a mammoth 548-4 in their LV= County Championship match against Yorkshire at Hove.

By tea on day two the Tykes had reached 17-0 in their reply, leaving them 531 runs behind the hosts.

Joe Sayers and Joe Root were unbeaten on five apiece.

Sussex’s declaration came seven overs before the interval, with Murray Goodwin ending on 274 not out and Andy Hodd posting an unbeaten 32.

This was after Luke Wells had been run out for 174 following a stand of 304 with Goodwin.
