Surprise packages Halifax Direct head the Division A table after yesterday's Dales Council League results.

The Laisterdyke-based club, who were fortunate to escape relegation to Division B last season, have recorded four maximum-points wins after their latest triumph, in which they defeated visitors Crompark (89) by 121 runs.

Ashfaq Khan (87) and Adnan Mahmood (51) assisted the leaders to 217.

Just two points behind are Shipley Providence (218, Carl Ward 87) after recording their fourth successive win with a 123-run victory at home to Farnley Hill, who were dismissed for just 95.

Rodley (129) lost their 100 per cent record when they went down by six wickets at home to rivals Leeds Sikh (130-4, Gurdeep Singh Ryatt 50).

Hepworth & Idle (176-2) got back to winning ways at Cookridge (172-6, James Shepstone 64), where, for the visitors, Kiwi Andy Clinton hit 69 on his seasonal debut, Danny Bailey making 51 in their comprehensive eight-wicket win.

Hyde Park (194-7, Adnan Taj 75) picked up their first win of the season - a 79-run triumph at Baildon (115), where new signing Sultan Mahmood returned 5-26 for the visitors.

With Division B leaders Apperley Bridge rained off, Saville Stars (142) took over as front-runners after recording a ten-run win at Meanwood (132). Hepworth & Idle B (241-7) jumped into the top four after defeating third-placed visitors Farsley (160) in a game which saw Paul Medley hit an unbeaten 119 on his seasonal bow for the home side. Drighlington-Whitehall (94) pulled off a shock by defeating Rodley B in a low-scoring affair where bowlers were on top, Charlotte Preston returning 6-45 for Rodley and Allan Mitchell 6-12, including a hat-trick, for the winners. In Division C, Apperley Bridge B (190-9) retained their lead at the top after a 74-run win at Leeds Sikh B (116, Mohammed Salim 5-25).

However, Thornbury B (232-9, Waqar Ahmed 55) are just five points away after a 60-run home triumph over Shipley Providence B (172, Shahid Ahmed 95).

For the second successive week, Division D front-runners Pudsey St Lawrence B hit over 300,where James Conlon 131 and Sam McEvoy 70 helped the home side to 320-9.

Drighlington-Whitehall B responded with a creditable 235-7 (Steve Haw 77, Jake James 54).
