There was a disappointing end to the Craven League game between Haworth Road and Embsay as the setting sun initially caused problems before play was halted by the umpires around about 7.30pm.

Mohammed Adil picked up a hat-trick in his 7-53 as Embsay were all out for 158, Duncan Ward top-scoring with 46. The Road reply had stuttered to 106-6 in the 32nd over when play was stopped.

Meanwhile, Bingley Congs and Cullingworth are the early DIVISION ONE pace-setters after both won at the weekend.

Congs amassed 231-8 at Cowling, led by Dave Tarren (54), before the hosts were all out for just 81 against Neil Copping (5-26) and Adrian Dibb (4-38).

Cullingworth laid down a huge marker as the usually free-scoring Oakworth batsmen were dismissed for 71, with Bevan Ravenscroft (5-28) and Dave Robinson (5-31) doing the damage. This was after the visitors had smashed 247-6, guided by Gareth Marshall (89) and Chris Welch (67).

Thornton posted 172 thanks to Kevin Pollard (53), before visiting Bradley collapsed to 78 all out as evergreen Mark Paxton picked up 6-34.

Richard Ellis (4-31) and Reece White (3-19) hustled Barrowford out for 132. The Bronte side then reached their target for the loss of five wickets as White made 89 not out.

There were runs aplenty at Cononley as Crossflatts whacked 369-5, led by A Ayub’s magnificent unbeaten 156 and 114 from Mick Brooksbank. The home side replied with a creditable 205, of which Charles Calvert made 64.

Sutton, who recruited well in the off-season, sit top of DIVISION TWO after seeing off Chatburn. David Snowden struck a super 109 as Sutton rattled up 233-6 and Richard Walker then took 4-59 as the visitors replied with 164.

Glusburn are one of six teams on six points, three behind the leaders. Nick Williamson bowled through to finish with 5-56 as hosts Embsay B were restricted to 172-7, Nas Hussain making 61, before Glusburn openers Matt Lloyd (84) and Paul Barker (75no) put on 156 in a nine-wicket victory.

Ingrow slipped from joint-top in an exciting game against Sandy Lane, who made 243-7 (Luke Ellis 88) before the hosts finished agonisingly short on 241-4 after a gritty 118 not out by Alan Broadley.

There was another close finish as Pendle Forest edged it by five runs against Wilsden, who slipped from 134-7 to 142 all out in reply to 147 (Nigel Hargreaves 50) as Jon Cant claimed 6-43.

Long Lee came a cropper on their descent to the valley bottom at Airedale, who saw their 179 (Imran Zaman 57) prove too much as H Aslam (5-50) and Nadeem Zaman (5-29) dismissed the visitors for 97.

Foulridge remain without a point after failing to defend 183-9 (Tony Bradley 54) at Riddlesden, who had just five balls to spare as they reached their target for the loss of five wickets thanks to A Raza (64no).

Four undefeated sides head DIVISION THREE. Gargrave were at Park Field and had the star of proceedings in Pete Cowburn, who took 3-27 before going on to hit 94 noT OUT as they strolled home by seven wickets in the 16th over. Alex Horsfield made 43 as Glusburn Seconds made a modest 126.

Ingrow St John’s hammered 258 off the Denholme attack at Street Lane. T Hussain made 60 and M Mansha 53 for the Saints as L Pickles took 5-66. Then J Halliday top scored with 49 as the visitors replied with 163, Mohammed Gulnawaz taking 4-41.

Surprise package Haworth Road Seconds could only muster 115 on their visit to Skipton CI, who could only muster 85 in reply. J Stuttard (5-54) and S Nawaz (4-27) were the star bowlers for the Sandylands side, before N Gata-Aura (5-30) and I Afzal (3-3) did the damage for the winners.

Crossflatts Seconds received three points as Cononley Seconds were unable to raise a side.

Oakworth Seconds saw off Cullingworth Seconds at Roydwood Terrace, winning by two wickets, and Haworth WE won by three wickets up at Eldwick & Gilstead.

Barrowford Seconds and Ingrow St John’s Seconds are the unbeaten sides in DIVISION FOUR.

Little Marsden entertained Barrowford Seconds and posted a healthy 242-9, with Stuart Grimshaw scoring 60. But the Bull Holme side chased this down for the loss of five wickets, with W Ali scoring 83 and J Ormerod 59.

The Saints were 76 runs too strong for Long Lee Seconds at Golden View.

David Hunt, aged 14, scored a maiden senior half-century - 58no to be exact - and together with Andy Holmes' 62 helped Bradley Seconds to 233-7. Then 16-year-old Billy Williamson took 5-20, his maiden five-wicket haul, as Riddlesden Seconds were dismissed for 186.

Bradford & Bingley Thirds went down by four wickets at Chatburn Seconds, while Ingrow Seconds beat Sandy Lane Seconds by 32 runs at Greenwood Park.

The leaders of DIVISION FIVE are Gargrave Seconds, who entertained nine-man Sutton Seconds. The visitors were hustled out for 72, with Tony Spensley taking 6-36. Then R Nickson with 34 led the home side to the spoils by nine wickets.

Bingley Congs Seconds slipped up at home to Cowling Seconds. Going first, the Beckfoot Lane side posted 173-8, C Raistrick top-scoring with 41. Then, building on a first-wicket partnership of 107 by Richard Cleaver (53) and Ben Davy (52), the visitors got home by six wickets with 15 balls to spare.

Nick Ahad (62) and B Wooler (47) were the main contributors to Airedale Seconds' 170-9 at Oakworth Thirds. The homesters slumped to 69 all out, Mark Allcock the main wicket-taker with 4-14.

Skipton CI Seconds won by four wickets at Haworth Seconds, Foulridge Seconds went down by two wickets at home to Pendle Forest Thirds and Denholme Seconds lost by six wickets at home to Thornton Seconds.

Eldwick & Gilstead Seconds were gifted three points when Haworth WE Seconds were unable to raise a side.
