Having missed the 40-over match against Derbyshire with my injury, I’m also not going to be fit for the match against Nottinghamshire which starts tomorrow.

Unfortunately, I’m having another epidural on my sciatic back pain this week after I had some physio at Headingley on Monday.

In terms of the trip to Trent Bridge, there’s no better match for us to have on the back of two successive Championship losses than against the team that last beat you.

As I’ve said, we dominated the home match against Notts for two thirds of it before losing on the final day.

While some of the lads were playing up at Durham University last week, the majority of us had a few days of rest. Sometimes it can be good to just get away.

I just hope that we’ve got our hiccups out of the way and we can look forward to the rest of the season.

The campaign has only just begun. Yes, it’s not gone how we would have liked it to but it’s a long season and teams can start slowly.

Having Ajmal Shahzad back on the park again has been great. He’s been itching to play some cricket after his hamstring injury.

He’s had a bit of a frustrating winter because he didn’t play too much in the Ashes and then got injured in the one-day series and again at the World Cup. With Jonny Bairstow and Gerard Brophy both rested, it was a fantastic achievement for Barney Gibson to make his first-class debut at 15.

I’ve seen a bit of him in the nets during the winter, and he looks a real talent.

When I was 15, I was playing for Bankfoot in the Bradford League. I was in the Yorkshire age groups but hadn’t even made my second team debut by then!
