Former Craven League player Arran Brindle is on the comeback trail.
The Barrowford prodigy helped England’s women win the Ashes in 2005 before retiring to start a family.
Now she has been selected for the ten-day England Women’s Academy high performance training camp in India next month.
Brindle said: “I am delighted to have been selected to train with the England Women’s Academy in Pune during April.
“I have now had four years away from international cricket, during which time I have started a family and have captained Louth first team in the Lincolnshire ECB Premier League.
“Whilst I have loved playing a high standard of men’s cricket, I feel that I want to challenge for a place back in the England women’s squad.”
Former Bradford League cricketer Jack Birkenshaw, who used to coach England women and Leicestershire men, will travel with the squad to share his expertise and wealth of experience of spin in the sub-continent.
