Play has finally got underway at Headingley, and Yorkshire have experienced a decent day so far with both bat and ball.

At tea on day two, Kent were 51-2, still trailing the Tykes by 210 runs.

After the whole of the morning session was wiped out through bad weather, it was the Yorkshire tail who first excelled.

Despite Jonathan Bairstow being removed for 64, with only the 16th ball of the day, a last-wicket partnership of 41 between Steven Patterson, who finished on 39 not out, and Bradford-born Moin Ashraf, who made ten, saw them to a competitive total of 261 all out.

Their efforts also helped the Tykes pick up a second batting bonus point before Kent began their innings in ominous fashion.

However, after racing to 44 for no loss, Oliver Hannon-Dalby and Ajmal Shahzad both struck to leave the visitors two down at the interval.

Joe Denly was the first to go, for 26, before Sam Northeast followed him back to the pavilion for 20.

The men at the crease currently are captain Rob Key and Martin van Jaarsveld, who are both on two.
