In the closest finish for years, Crossflatts came out on top in the four-way fight for the Craven League Division One title.

They finished one point ahead of Bradley to claim their first league title.

Crossflatts entertained Cullingworth, who still had an eye on snatching the title themselves should results go their way.

The visitors went first and made 165-8 on a tricky wicket, Steve Welch top-scoring with 40.

Crossflatts’ Josh Brooks-bank hit 39 before Dom Bennett chipped in with 31 and they succeeded with just four balls to spare with the time at 7.50pm.

Second-placed Bradley were hoping for a slip-up by Crossflatts, although they needed to account for visitors Bingley Congs first.

This they duly did, only to find that they had been thwarted elsewhere.

The home side posted 154, with Neil Robinson scoring 64 and James Heseltine 43. The Beckfoot side were hustled out for 82, with Matt Simpson taking 5-24 and John Duffey 5-29.

Haworth Road visited Oakworth and snatched a point which took them above Cullingworth into third spot.

The Cure Hill side were 66-4 when rain brought a premature halt to play.

Cowling did neighbours Cononley a favour by beating Ingrow by nine wickets at Keighley Road, thus condemning the Keighley side to relegation.

The visitors had no answer to Steve Richardson, who finished with 7-35. Only opener Alan Broadley, with 37, offered much resistance. The home side lost their wicket with the score on 87, then Mark Adams (56no) and mike Dudley (28no) took them to the spoils.

Cononley went over the hill to Glusburn and ensured their safety with a solid six-wicket victory.

The battle for the second promotion spot in Division Two turned out to be a damp squib as both teams, Barrowford and Foulridge, were unable to play, so Barrowford join Thornton in the higher division.

Wilsden hung onto fourth spot despite going down at Sutton, a victory which saved them from relegation.

Justin Holdsworth (4-37) had Wilsden back in the hut for 101. Then steady batting saw Sutton to the points by five wickets.

Bottom side Haworth WE left the division with a cracking victory over Long Lee at Penistone Hill.

A 74 from Joe Alvey was the mainstay of Haworth’s 192-9. The Golden View side were then knocked over for 96.

Joining Haworth WE in the lower division will be Ingrow St John’s, who were dismissed for 62 by Sandy Lane, the visitors passing that total for the loss of two wickets.
