A large crowd at Wagon Lane witnessed an intriguing match between Bradford & Bingley and a Yorkshire XI but heavy rain left them frustrated.
Adil Rashid – returning to his former side – Ajmal Shahzad and Jonathan Bairstow were among the Tykes to compete in a game which marked 100 years’ membership of the Bradford League for the Bingley club.
Gary Ballance top-scored for Yorkshire as they made 225 all out in 35.5 overs as Richard McCarthy (3-39) and Chris Thompson (4-29) were the main wicket-takers. David Clow also bowled economically with 1-32 off eight overs.
It promised to be an interesting chase but rain arrived before the hosts took to the crease.
Bradford & Bingley representative David Markham said: “We had a very big turnout of between 300 and 400 spectators but we were beaten by the weather. There was a torrential downpour about 7.30pm and, after about half an hour of really heavy rain, the decision was made that it was not fit to continue.”
