Calverley beat the weather and Bolton Villas to climb out of the Aire-Wharfe League's Division Two relegation places.

With only 11 points covering the bottom half of the table, there is all to play for over the final five matches, and Calverley took full advantage as their rivals either lost or had to settle for a single point in abandoned matches.

Shane Franklin set the foundation for victory with a 5-76 spell that saw Villas dismissed for 158, a total Calverley passed with eight wickets to spare with Gareth Lee (72no) and Julian Thornhill (56no) clinching the points.

The defeat keeps Villas under threat, as are Tong Park Esholt after they went down by five wickets against Olicanian.

Bernard Hughes (4-43) and Matthew House (4-21) bowled out Park for 104, and Ed Brown (46) led the successful run chase.

Silsden were saved from almost certain defeat when the rain stopped their match with Harden but still prop up the division with Illingworth.

With the top-two clash between Bilton and Follifoot abandoned, Harden were hoping to make up ground and looked in a good position after setting a target of 163-5, with Anthony Bairstow hitting 66, and then getting Silsden to 72-8 before the umpires called it off.

Olicanian’s win, however, boosted their chances. They are now only a point behind Harden and five behind second-placed Follifoot.

Steeton were also rescued by the weather, struggling at 48-5 in reply to Upper Wharfedale’s 228-7 in which Jonathan Best took 5-64.

It’s as you were at the top of Division One with Burley still seven points clear after beating Guiseley.

Adam Waite (54) and Dave Pennett (48) were the main contributors to Guiseley’s 183-9 but Michael Truswell (46) and Charlie Davy (40) made sure Burley got home.

Showers disrupted second–placed Beckwithshaw’s match against Rawdon, and the home side had to up the run rate to nine an over when the umpires said they had fewer overs than they thought to pass Rawdon’s 188 but they succeeded with six wickets left.

The performance of the day was undoubtedly that of Mahir Ali, who followed up an undefeated 66 in Thackley’s 130-8 with a nine-over spell of 8-13 as third-placed Collingham crashed out for 34.

That allowed Green Lane to move back into third spot after Michael Abbott and Joe Pleasance each scored 47 to help them past Otley’s 184-6, in which George Ross hit a half-century.

Ilkley have dropped to second after eight weeks in Division Three's top spot after they could only pick up a point at New Rover.

The home side set a target of 188-9 but, despite the efforts of Paul Dover (41) and Nick Cockroft (46), Ilkley could only manage 130-9.

Ben Rhydding took full advantage, Nick Smith taking six wickets for the second week in a row as fourth-placed Colton were skittled out for 72, Charlie Swallow clinching victory with an unbeaten 55.

Menston moved to within a point of Ilkley after dismissing Skipton for 85, which included a three- over spell of 3-0 by Charlie Dracup. Nick Thornton scored 61 not out as the home side won without losing a wicket.

There was another fine piece of bowling as Matthew Wainwright took 5-11 in three overs to dismiss Woodhouse for 67 in pursuit of Horsforth’s 94, ending a four-match losing streak.

Addingham’s recent good run came crashing to a halt when they were dismissed for 84 but they couldn’t blame the wicket because Bardsey had hit 283-3.
