This year’s Sir James Roberts Cup final will see a new name on the trophy on Sunday, August 1 as neither finalist has won the cup before.

Heaton defeated league leaders Cambing (97) by three wickets in a close encounter. Mohammed Naveed claimed 4-38 and Zisham Khalid 4-24 before Heaton passed the total with seven wickets down.

Hallfield defeated Odsal Phoenix by four wickets. Odsal scored a respectable 185, with Vipal Sharma hitting 65 and Nasir Ahmed taking 4-27. In reply, Imran Masood scored 54 and Sajid Mahmood 47 to see Hallfield home for the loss of six wickets.

H Broadbent Trophy holders West Bowling are in the final again after defeating Bradford Indians by 33 runs.

Batting first, West Bowling made 160, with Daniel A’Hearne and Richard Watmough both scoring 44. In reply, Indians were all out for 127 – Inder Kumar their top scorer with 52.

They will play Heaton in the final, who overcame Mayfield by 27 runs. Batting first, Heaton were all out for 126 (Majid Hussain 44 and Gene Cullearn 4-39).

In reply, Mayfield were all out for 91, Umar Jamil taking 6-26.

The final is at Mayfield CC on Sunday, July 18 (2pm).
