Norwood Green and Salem Athletic will contest the Bradford Central League Waddilove Trophy final on Sunday, August 1 after some tremendous individual semi-final performances.

Norwood Green had a terrific start from Muddasser Hussain (110) and Nasir Mahmood (65), who forged an 134 opening partnership against Great Horton, helping the visitors post a formidable 288-7.

Horton were in an impossible situation at 78-7, however a remarkable unbroken eighth-wicket stand of 177 between Asif Mehmood (143) and Imran Khan (50) took the home side to 255-7.

Salem Athletic were in dire straits at 26-6 against Thornbury, however, they recovered to reach 108 (Kaleem Afzal 5-25). In reply Thornbury collapsed to 71-9 (Majid Ur Rehman 4-13) before a last-wicket partnership between Taz Bashir (21) and Mohammed Nadeem (13) almost saw Thornbury home before Bashir was run out seven runs short of victory.

The Thrippleton Cup final on Sunday, July 25 features the same two teams, Norwood Green and Salem Athletic.

Athletic blasted their way to an amazing 408-7 in their semi at Allerton (103), which included an opening partnership of 150 between Yassir Shezad (157) and Shaid Iqbal (63).

Norwood Green made 124 against Great Horton Church, who were dismissed for 122 in a nail-biting finale.
