Yorkshire Women Under-17s opened their Championship defence with a comprehensive victory over Scotland at Undercliffe Cricket Club.

Batting first, Yorkshire scored 246-6 from their allotted 45 overs, 14-year-old Jess Watson top-scoring with an impressive 114.

In reply, Scotland were bowled out for just 87, with Naomi Twiss taking five wickets for only nine runs.

Scotland were beaten for the second time the following day as, after winning the toss, they decided to bat first and were bowled out for 68. Yorkshire won by eight wickets, with Charlotte North making 38.

Yorkshire rounded off a successful week when they easily beat Lancashire at Undercliffe.

Batting first, Yorkshire scored 246-4 from 45 overs as opening bat Watson struck 126, her second century of the week, and Natasha Shafqat finished unbeaten on 75.

In reply, Lancashire were bowled out for 119, with Watson proving her all-round talent by taking six wickets, including a hat-trick.
