Tino Best gets a lot of column inches – but only because of the character he is.
You speak to most people involved at Yorkshire – and I will vouch for this – and they will say that the bloke just makes you smile.
I have lost count of the amount of times he has extended a clenched fist when he sees me and questions “you cool, man?”
But he is not well received by absolutely everybody, as Lancashire opener Paul Horton revealed this week after spending time in the middle facing him.
Horton said: “Everybody has conversations with Tino Best. That’s the way he plays his cricket.
“There is a slight language barrier between the harsh West Indian and the Anglo/Australian/Scouse that I’ve got, but there was definitely some interesting conversations out there.
“There were a few expletives – but he didn’t get that many wickets.
“I don’t mind it because it means I am in a battle. It gets me going. If he is going to run in and swear at me, that’s fine. It keeps me alive and doesn’t faze me.”
Annoying the Lankys... keep up the good work, Tino!
