The two Davieses were the heroes as Bradford & Bingley gained a thrilling three-wicket, last-over win at Bradford League Division One rivals Pudsey Congs.

James Davies hit a six from the fourth ball of the final over to win the match for Bingley, chasing down Congs’ formidable 293-6 after Simon Davies had laid the foundations for their remarkable victory with a superb innings of 128, including two sixes and 14 fours.

The left-handed opener received good support from fellow opener Scott Etherington (33) in a first-wicket stand of 71 before David Clow (35) and James Davies (31no) increased the tempo to ensure their win.

Another left-handed opener, Mark Gill, dominated Congs’ innings, hitting four sixes and 13 fours in his 93 while Adam Patel made 78 and Eugene Burzler a quick-fire 37.

Congs’ second defeat of the season enabled neighbours Pudsey St Lawrence to regain second place after their 59-run win at Cleckheaton, five points behind leaders Undercliffe, who gained a 126-run win at Yeadon thanks to a superb all-round performance by Shafiq Choudhry.

He top-scored with 84 as Undercliffe made 243-5, while overseas player Nawaz Sardar contributed an unbeaten 60 and Ashley Metcalfe 42 not out. Choudhry then took seven for 18 with his left-arm spin as Yeadon were bowled out for 117.

Opener Richard Gould scored his second successive century but couldn’t save Gomersal from a 63-run defeat at Woodlands.

He made 112 not out as Gomersal finished on 200-7 in reply to Woodlands’ total of 263-6.

All-rounder Chris Brice was top-scorer with 84, sharing a fourth-wicket stand of 143 with Dan Shuffe (75) after opener Scott Richard-son had given them a good start with 54.

Steve Simpson (47) and James Lee (33) gave Farsley a good start with an opening stand of 82 and Harry Anderson (43), Tom Slater (45no), Lorenzo Inghram (24) and Joe Greaves (21) kept them in the hunt before they finished on 245-9.

Outstanding bowling by skipper Ian Philliskirk, who took 8-42, enabled defending champions Baildon to beat bottom club Bankfoot by five wickets.

Andrew Duckworth (81) and Greg Fotheringham (51) shared a second-wicket stand of 120 but Bankfoot lost their way after that as Philliskirk got to work, with six wickets falling for 30 runs in the middle of the innings.

Highlight of the Baildon innings was a second-wicket stand of 118 between Johnny Reynolds (75) and Simon Webb (62).
