Teenager Charlie Raistrick fired Bingley Congs towards an impressive 42-run win as Division One leaders Crossflatts suffered their first Craven & District League defeat of the season.

Under-17 junior Raistrick struck 67 and Chris Hemsley added 47 as Congs defied M Adil (6-76) to post a healthy 216.

Andrew Copping then claimed four for 26 as the efforts of Brian Freimanis (67) proved in vain in a Crossflatts reply that closed on 174.

This defeat enabled Cullingworth and Bradley to join Crossflatts at the top of the table.

Cullingworth were at Glusburn and the home side tumbled from 57 without loss to 142 all out against Phil Poole (4-23). Omar Khatab (56no) then completed a seven-wicket success.

Bradley knocked over visiting Cononley for 133 as Tim Rudden (5-33) and Matt Simpson (4-38) got to work. Sean Williamson (50) and Neil Andrews (44no) then guided the hosts to a comfortable eight-wicket victory.

Haworth’s trip to Cowling looked to be going to plan as the home side struggled to 99 for five after 35 overs.

But 100 runs in the last ten overs released the shackles, Ben Thurston top-scoring with 60, and Haworth crashed to 113 in reply as Steve Richardson took four for 36.

Oakworth walloped 267 for eight at home to Ingrow, Robert Hopkinson leading the way with a superb 110 and Michel Scarborough adding 82 as Ian Roberts took four for 68.

The visitors reached 171 in reply as Rick Lynden and Jack Ellis took three wickets each.

A depleted Embsay side were no match for Haworth Road at Shires Lane, going down by seven wickets.

Thornton remain two points clear at the top of Division Two after seeing off Pendle Forest thanks to Kev Pollard’s sublime 105.

Pollard’s ton lifted his side to 219 for seven and the hosts closed on 181 as evergreen Brian Laycock picked up six for 42.

Barrowford clung on to second place as they won at rock-bottom Ingrow St John’s by just three runs.

The visitors could only muster 129 against Mohammed Qadeer (6-37) and looked set for defeat as Saints reached 125 for eight, only to lose their last two wickets for only one further run as Danny Roberts (5-34) and Andy Roberts (4-31) just kept them at bay.
