Silsden have struggled to come to terms with life after relegation from Division One but may have turned a corner with a solid display at Illingworth that lifted them off the bottom of the Division Two table.

This, like so many of their games, ended in a draw but this time they picked up the lion’s share of the points, mainly thanks to an innings of 64 from Nathan Bradbury and a four for 65 spell from Corey Jacobs – the sixth time he has taken four or more wickets in nine starts.

Silsden moving up meant Calverley, also relegated last season, dropped to the bottom after they went down by 97 runs at leaders Bilton.

Hard on Bilton’s heels are Harden, who were too strong for Steeton, and the leading pair now have an eight-point gap to third-placed Follifoot.

Gary Boulton included 11 maidens in his 20-over spell of five for 30 as Harden were restricted to 166 for nine but the Steeton batting also struggled against Philip Leng (4-29) and Richard Wear (3-34) and were bowled out for 108.

There were plenty of runs at Knaresborough, where an unbeaten 121 from Elias Karageorgiou and 84 not out from Jonathan Corcoran saw the home side set a target of 231 for three. But Tong Park Esholt were more than a match for them, with Fawad Maqsood not out on 52 and Luke Waters smashing 24 fours and a six in his unbeaten 140 to clinch victory by nine wickets.

Olicanian’s challenge for honours has slipped away and they dropped four more points at Bolton Villas, unable to match the home side’s highest score of the season, 229 for eight. Steve Shuttleworth (71no) and Lee Margerison (61) led the way.

Burley’s lead at the top of Division One was reduced when they had to settle for two points having been unable to pass Beckwithshaw’s 250 for five, despite the efforts of Mark Harrison (74) and Ryan Cooper (64).

Green Lane took full advantage, Joe Pleasance hitting 100 not out as they beat Kirkstall by five wickets in a high-scoring match and moved within three points of Burley, who they meet on Saturday.

Calum Goldthorp, a 14-year-old Yorkshire schools opener, hit 61 and, with Jamie Pickering, Nial Colman and Duncan Stow each scoring half centuries, Rawdon set a target of 299 for five. Otley couldn’t match it but Matt O’Grady (82) and teenager Josh Atkinson (97no) gave it a good go and they comfortably picked up two points.

Leon Harber (44) and Paul Mosey (36) top-scored in Thackley’s 183 for nine, which was enough to pick up four more valuable points off Adel, but Guiseley’s recent good form hit the buffers when they went down by seven wickets against Pool.

Ilkley made it eight wins from nine starts when they cruised past Bardsey by an innings to stay top of Division Three. Rory Kroon (42no) and Nick Cockcroft (70no) saw them home.

Charlie Swallow (67), Robert Oldham (50) and Nick Smith (44no) helped Ben Rhydding to 229 for seven but Hall Park’s last pair hung on to take a point.

That allowed Menston to climb above Ben Rhydding into second place after Charles Dracup (4-50) and John Storey (3-34) set up a two-wicket victory by dismissing Horsforth for 143.

Richard Hey (4-23) was the star as Addingham dismissed Alwoodley for 95 to claim a 63-run win but Skipton’s two-match winning run came to a halt when they went down by six wickets against fourth-placed Colton.
