The race for the Bradford Central League First Division championship resumed yesterday after the previous weekend’s break for cup ties.

However, it is a case of as you were as the three co- leaders – Allerton, Apperley Bridge and Girlington – all collected maximum points.

Allerton (55-1) wasted little time on their trip to Norwood Green (53) to brush the home team aside to win by nine wickets.

Apperley Bridge (262-6, Umar Khan 92, Waqas Ahmed 68) recorded a comfortable 146-run win at home to Salem Athletic, who were put out for just 116 in reply.

The fixture at Girlington turned out to be a close affair against Greenfield. Batting first, Girlington posted 261 (Habib Ur Rehman 101,Qasir Javed 52, Ibrar Ahmed 5-54).

In reply, the visitors, at 232 for seven, looked as though they may pull off a surprise victory.

However, they eventually succumbed for 245, despite the best efforts of Shakil Khan (71) to go down by just 16 runs.

Thornbury (163) recorded their first league victory, with Kaleem Afzal hitting 69 at Great Horton Church, who responded with just 114.

In the Second Division, leaders Salem Athletic have opened up a 16-point gap over their nearest rivals after easily defeating visitors Apperley Bridge.

Tariq Rashid hit 95 out of the home side’s 176. In reply, Bridge were never at the races, being dismissed for just 73 Alleron (156-4) recorded a six- wicket win at home to Norwood Green (155), Mesum Nisar hitting an unbeaten 77 for the winners and Awais Anwar making 55 for the defeated visitors.

Great Horton Church (166-6, Sajjad Sabir 79) recorded a four-wicket success at Thornbury (165).
