Openers Adam Lyth and Joe Sayers have given Yorkshire a stunning start to their County Championship match against Durham at Headingley today.
While the hosts are without England duo Tim Bresnan and Ajmal Shahzad, the reigning LV= Division One champions are without pace bowling quartet Steve Harmison, Graham Onions, Mitch Claydon and Callum Thorp.
And Lyth and Sayers, the former in particular, have taken advantage with their second successive hundred stand in four-day cricket after 155 in the second innings at Kent on Saturday.
The pair have taken their side to a commanding 124 without loss from 33 overs at lunch. Lyth has reached 78 not out at the break with Sayers unbeaten on 38.
After seeing captain Andrew Gale win the toss and elect to bat, Lyth has hit 16 boundaries in his innings, reaching his 50 off 74 balls in the 24th over.
