Another three wickets in the afternoon session saw Yorkshire seize the initiative in their LV= County Championship clash with Kent at Canterbury.
The Tykes’ attack again bowled well as a unit and one wicket each for David Wainwright, Tim Bresnan and Ajmal Shahzad reduced the hosts to 215 for six at tea.
All three bowlers now have two wickets on day one, with Wainwright striking first to remove Sam Northeast for 27 just after lunch.
At that stage Kent where 131 for four and with the very next ball Bresnan removed the dangerous Martin van Jaarsveld, who had made 20, to leave them five down.
Rob Key’s side then counter-attacked well, led by Darren Stevens, in the spring sunshine before Shahzad removed James Hockley for 14. He was caught at deep mid-wicket after a lazy shot straight to Bresnan.
After a partnership of 64, that was certainly an important breakthrough, but Stevens was still there at the interval, unbeaten on 51.
The other man at the crease was James Tredwell on three.
