After losing the toss and being forced to field against Kent, three wickets for Yorkshire have given them a slight advantage by lunch of their LV=County Championship clash at Canterbury.
The Tykes’ attack has shared around the wickets to leave the hosts on 90 for three at the interval on day one.
Ajmal Shahzad made the first breakthrough to remove the Kent captain Rob Key when he edged behind to Jonathan Bairstow after making just five.
David Wainwright was the next to celebrate, nine overs later, when he struck with the fourth ball of his spell to oust Joe Denly for 32 – the opener loosely driving to Joe Sayers at short extra cover.
Then just eight balls later Tim Bresnan clean bowled Geraint Jones for 28 to leave Kent on 74 for two.
At that stage the hosts were going at four an over but, by the end of the session, the new men at the crease had only scored 16 more runs from the remaining 72 balls.
At lunch Martin van Jaarsveld is unbeaten on ten and Sam Northeast is yet to score.
