There was a sparkling start to the West Riding Sunday Council League season on a dull day for Azeems against West Bowling Attock, for Euro Windows at First CC and for AMCC against Shaadi Cards.
Champions Azeems won the toss and batted first, with captain Mohammed Qadeer picking up where he left off with a classy 52 out of their total of 260 for eight. Attock wilted under Tariq Azam’s four for eight, all out for a mere 98.
Batting first, First CC crashed to a sorry 67 all out as Shabbir Hussain opened his new season with an outstanding six wickets for 11 runs, including a hat-trick.
After their poor season last year, Euro Windows’ win was achieved for the loss of just four wickets.
Shaadi Cards were happy with 194 all out as Saqib Hussain made 75 in his maiden innings but AMCC are great chasers of big totals and another maiden innings of 50 from Zaheer Rauf helped them to win with three wickets in hand.
