Yorkshire’s Andrew Gale was the guest of honour at the Upper Airedale Junior Cricket League (UAJCL) presentation night when five youngsters were named cricketers of the year across different age groups.
Under-11 Tom Addison, of Oxenhope, had a superb season, taking a record 15 wickets and scoring over 100 runs to deservedly take his age group’s accolade.
He was a member of the West Yorkshire West team which won the county district competition.
Shane Taylforth of Earby claimed the under-13 prize, while the award for girl cricketer of the year went to Charlotte Boulton of Steeton after a stunning performance in finishing seventh overall in the league list.
Pride of place for 2009 in the under-15s went to Jack Dav-ison of Oakworth, who was cricketer of the year for the third time in four years.
The under-17 winner was Cononley’s Freddie Osad-zenko, who helped his club to promotion to Division One.
