Yorkshire’s Academy side will face a tough test of their credentials when they come face to face with some past greats of English cricket in Sheffield tomorrow.

The Tykes youngsters will line up against a PCA Masters XI in a Pro40 match at Abbeydale Park (2pm).

The Professional Cricketers’ Association side will be led by fast bowler Gladstone Small and will also include former England Test stars Devon Malcolm and Dean Headley.

Former Yorkshire favourite Ashley Metcalfe, who scored close to 12,000 first-class runs in a career that also saw him play for Nottinghamshire and South African provincial side Orange Free State, will also play a part.

Lancashire’s current wicketkeeper Luke Sutton, who has been dropped for the Twenty20 Cup, will be involved as well.

The Masters will be in attendance prior to the game to provide a coaching session for local youngsters as part of the PCA community coaching programme.

This event is organised by the Sheffield Cricket Lovers’ Society and monies from a fundraising lunch and dinner are donated to both the PCA Benevolent Fund and a local charity. Spectators are advised to arrive early.
