Jer Lane opened their account in the Halifax League's Roy Smith Division with a win at home against Luddendenfoot.

Using three of their new signings, Jer restricted Luddendenfoot to 170 for six in 45 overs but only Phil Yeadon was consistent with his line in very windy conditions.

Jer replied with 173 for three from 42 overs, debutant Johnny Lister hitting an unbeaten 59 and Jason Gelder 22 not out.

However, Jer Lane's second team could not match their first team's performance in a higher division and got a wake-up call after going down by 149 runs at Triangle in their Premier Division match.

After losing opening bowler Karl Laban to a blow on the forehead following through, Paul Walker not even catching the rebound at mid-on, Jer - like Laban you could say - lost focus.

Only Robert McEvoy (39), batting for the first time in 18 months, showed any real application as Jer were dismissed for 111.
