President Les Cousins admits Wibsey Park Chapel have been left in limbo for the 2008 season.

Chapel, who earlier this month failed by 16 votes to 15 to gain a place in the Tower-gate Halifax League next year, have decided not to make a plea to the Bradford Central League to re-admit them. Cousins re-affirmed the club's intention to try to win a place in the Halifax League for 2009 and hopes the 11 clubs currently in Division Two will play friendly matches against them at first and second-team level next season to keep them ticking over.

Chapel, who are based at Park Avenue, will continue to play third-team fixtures in the Dales Council at their second ground at Haycliffe Lane.

Cousins said the club's annual meeting had been held since the Halifax League's vote had agonisingly gone against them.

He said: "We have decided not to seek a return to the Bradford Central League for 2008 and we will not be app-roaching any other leagues.

"We have sent a letter to the Halifax League noting that there is an odd number of teams and asking if it would be possible to play friendlies."
