FAST bowler Jared Warner will re-join Sussex County Cricket Club on loan for the remainder of the Specsavers County Championship season, beginning with their match against Middlesex starting on Sunday.

The 22-year-old, who also plays in the Bradford Premier League for Methley, will begin his second loan spell of the season at the 1st Central County Ground, Hove, having seen his first spell curtailed earlier than planned due to a side strain.

Warner made his First-Class debut in a drawn match for Sussex against Glamorgan earlier in the summer and impressed with first innings figures of 3 for 35.

Known for his pace, the seamer will be available for the final four Championship fixtures.

Warner said: “I’m looking forward to it. I enjoyed my time earlier in the year and I'm just looking forward to hopefully playing some more first team cricket.

“I did okay and really enjoyed it. If I can get a couple more games under my belt, I think it will really improve my game going forward to next year.”

Warner has aspirations of breaking into the White Rose's red-ball bowling attack and believes opportunities like this will help him leading into the 2020 season. The Wakefield-born quick, who has captained the Club’s Second XI on numerous occasions, made an appearance for the Vikings in the final Royal London One-Day Cup game of the campaign in May.

“Obviously I’m desperate to play for Yorkshire so anything I can do that will help my cause is what I want to do.”
