GIRLS cricket in West Yorkshire is thriving and, with the World Cup starting today, organisers are planning a recruitment drive.
West Yorkshire Girls District Cricket (WYGDC) has gone from strength-to-strength over recent years and want to use this summer's stand-out event as the platform for getting more youngsters into the game.
They are holding a special training session on Saturday at their base in Oakenshaw, Bradford, at Woodlands Cricket Club.
The session runs from 9:30am to 11:30am and parents are urged to bring their girls along and get them involved in the game.
Just this year, WYGDC has started an all-girls mini-cricket league, with four teams at both U11s and U13s.
This adds to the U9s, U11s, U13s, and U15s teams WYGDC have.
Those sides play against other district teams across Yorkshire, with around 120 girls registered.
