UNDERCLIFFE are off the foot of the All-Rounder Cricket Bradford Premier League top flight thanks to a seven-wicket win over Methley.

Simon Lambert held the key to Undercliffe’s first win of the season as they lifted themselves to 10th and shunted their opponents to the bottom of the pile.

Methley looked to have the foundations for a good score when openers Adal Islam (45) and Marcus Walmsley (31) shared a stand of 54 but once they were parted, the innings went into decline.

Lambert sparked their collapse to 149 all out with figures of 5-47. Mark Watts, making his debut after joining from Scottish club Heriots, took 3-35.

Undercliffe were set a Duckworth Lewis Stern target of 138 off 42 overs after rain interrupted proceedings and Lambert saw them to their target.

Former Yorkshire player Azeem Rafiq was in good all-round form as he helped Cleckheaton secure a 49-run win on DLS after rain led to opponents Bradford & Bingley being set a revised target of 252 in 43 overs.

Despite the efforts of skipper Matthew Duce (61), Bradford & Bingley were bowled out for 202 as Rafiq picked up 4-60 with his off spin.

Earlier, Rafiq had hit 71 as he and Nick Walker (44) helped their side to a healthy 269-9. The best of the Bradford & Bingley bowlers was leg spinner Kyme Tahirkeli ( 5-68).

James Logan made a big impression on his return to the Farsley side by taking 6-26 as they defeated champions Pudsey St Lawrence by three wickets at Red Lane.

Logan - who has been sidelined with a broken thumb sustained on Yorkshire’s pre-season tour of South Africa - combined with county colleague Josh Poysden (3-15) to bowl out St Lawrence for 113.

Only Mark Robertshaw (57) countered the threat of the Farsley spinners as St Lawrence failed to build on an opening stand of 51 between last season’s leading run scorer and Archie Scott.

Farsley were helped towards their modest victory target by overseas player Pat Kruger (38), who, like Logan, was playing his first game for them this season.

Woodlands took advantage of Pudsey St Lawrence’s defeat to extend their lead at the top with a 70-run win over Wrenthorpe.

Opener Sam Frankland top scored for Woodlands with 53, and his efforts were built upon with useful contributions from Elliot Richardson (38), Brad Schmulian (33) and Greg Finn (31 not out) as a total of 226-6 was compiled.

Khalil Khan (3-44) and Will Bates (3-68) were again the pick of the Wrenthorpe bowlers while Khan was also their highest scorer with 47 as they were dismissed for 156. Elliot Richardson (3-39) and Chris Brice (3-58) shared the bowling honours.

Ben Kohler-Cadmore’s first century of the season and a whirlwind 68 from big-hitting David Stiff helped Hanging Heaton to a 172-run victory over Townville.

Kohler-Cadmore made an unbeaten 106 from 100 balls with four sixes and 10 fours, but it was Stiff who provided the fireworks. He smashed eight sixes and two fours during 32 balls of carnage which enabled Hanging Heaton to reach 272-7.

Richie Bresnan (3-54) proved to be the best of the bowlers for Townville who crumbled to 100 all out in reply with Josh Holling (5-44) and Tom Chippendale (4-36) doing the damage.

Another young spinner to get among the wickets was New Farnley’s Sam Barraclough, who took 4-54 as his side beat Lightcliffe by nine runs in another match where DLS came into play.

After New Farnley had made 225-8 - a score which owed much to the efforts of Dan Hodgson (51), Adam Waite (40) and Max Law (39) - rain led to Lightcliffe being set 177 to win.

Suleman Khan, who had taken 4-28 in the New Farnley innings, led the way for Lightcliffe with 51, but Barraclough and the impressive Alex Lilley (5-44) secured victory for New Farnley.
