RAIN has forced Durham’s first innings to be cut short at Emerald Headingley, with the visitors reaching 182-2 in the 35th over.

Opener Scott Steel hit 68 off 87 balls and Alex Lees 51 not out off 70, the fifth successive innings the former Yorkshire batsman has passed 50 in the Royal London one-day Cup.

While Yorkshire are out of contention for knockout cricket, Durham need to win this game to advance.

A defeat or even a no result would not be enough for them to reach the top three, opening the door for Lancashire to advance.

Tim Bresnan claimed both wickets in a miserly 10-over spell costing him only 36 runs.

He had Ben Raine (32) caught behind down leg before removing Steel, caught at deep square-leg as the score fell to 159-2 in the 28th over.

Yorkshire are handing List A debuts to Tom Loten, Ben Birkhead and Jared Warner and a county debut to Will Fraine.
