DEFEATS for top two Booth and Jer Lane put to bed any notion that the Premier Division title race in the Spenser Wilson Halifax League was developing into a two-horse race.

Leaders Booth were beaten by seven wickets at Copley, while second-placed Lane were unable to protect a total of 233 as Warley won by eight wickets.

Greg Keywood took the plaudits with all-round figures of 7-85 and 56 not out, which backed up the efforts of Nolan Bottomley (68) and Tyronne Schiller (67no) after Amjid Khan (93) had led the Lane batting.

These results left Booth two points clear at the top and allowed Mytholmroyd to close to within 11 points of Bradford Premier League-bound Lane as they beat Northowram Hedge Top (271-7) thanks to a fine unbroken sixth-wicket stand between Taufeeq Ahmed (63no) and Thomas Conway (45no).

Bottom side Queensbury must have been motivated by the recent announcement that only one team will be relegated from the division this season as they collected 12 welcome points by defeating fourth-placed Oxenhope.

Tom Watson (72no) and Mohammed Altaf (69) led Queensbury to 236-8 before Amjad Ali's 5-22 helped dismiss Oxenhope for 214, which included 53 for Josh Tetley.

Another team taking maximum points was Sowerby St Peter's – but only after a tight battle at home to Thornton, with just three runs the winning margin.

Ben Watkins and Gareth Grogan both scored 43 as Saints posted 154 and although Nikki Hutchinson hit 52 in reply, Thornton were all out for 151 as the last six wickets fell for 24 against Chris Grenwood (5-33).

Blackley and Sowerby Bridge now jointly lead Division One by 12 points ahead of third-placed Southowram, Blackley having won at Shelf after running up 278-9 (Jason Baxter 89) and then dismissing their opponents for 247 despite a notable 74 not out by number six batsman Kieran Prichard.

Sowerby Bridge (244-5) were prevented from gaining maximum points by Great Horton Park Chapel's last pair, the reply finishing on 148-9, but the plaudits still went to opener Joshua Wood with his 113 and Darren Chapman junior's 6-43.

Stones (139) are now getting isolated at the bottom after losing again, this time at home to Southowram by eight wickets, with Shelf 12 points ahead after not playing.

Bridgeholme stayed in touch with the promotion places after beating Cullingworth (159) by seven wickets.

Unbeaten Illingworth St Mary's continue to forge ahead in Division Two, although they were pushed hard by mid-table Leymoor before winning by 13 runs as Luke Brooksby's 42 in a total of 146 proved decisive.

Two batsmen dominated the scoring at third-placed Clayton, with Joseph Brown (75no) guiding the hosts to a five-wicket victory after Jordan France (79) had led Upper Hopton to a 157 total against Paul Gelder (5-65).

Luddendenfoot's top three batsmen – Joel Cleary (80no), Lee Broadbent (75) and Ryan Allen (67no) – were all that was required to overcome a Birchencliffe target of 229, which included 105 by Keyur Mistry.

The remaining three matches all featured almost identical scores and outcomes as the sides batting second all emerged victorious.

Low Moor HT's 90 (Imran Patel 5-20) at home to Mount proved no obstacle to Imram Ravat (73no) in an eight-wicket success.

Old Town's 96 was soon overcome by second-placed Bradshaw as Imran Aslam's 60 not out earned a ten-wicket verdict.

And Greetland's 96 at Outlane was passed with just one wicket down as Lee Mellor crashed 77 not out after team-mate Josh Wrigley had taken 7-27.
