RYAN Sidebottom struck twice in an over as Yorkshire battled back against Somerset during the second morning at Headingley, although the visitors remained in the driving seat.
Somerset, replying to 145, slipped from 123-1 to 164-4 as Liam Plunkett also struck before lunch, which they reached at 218-4 thanks to unbeaten pair Peter Trego and Jim Allenby.
Chris Rogers and Marcus Trescothick both scored half-centuries, with 63 and 73 apiece, as they shared 123 for the second wicket.
Rogers was caught at second slip in the 33rd over before Sidebottom bowled James Hildreth when he left alone an inswinger as the score fell to 125-3.
Plunkett later removed Trescothick as he chopped on in the 47th over before Trego reached 40 not out and Allenby 35 not out.
